Biographical/Historical Note

Lynn Morrow was born in 1946 in Mexico, Missouri. He received a bachelor's degree (1975) and master's degree (1980) in history from Southwest Missouri State University. He served as research historian for the Center for Ozarks Studies at that institution from 1977 to 1982. He and his wife, Kristen Kalen, operated the historic preservation consulting firm of Kalen and Morrow from 1983 to 1990. In 1990, he became supervisor at Missouri's Local Records Preservation Program at the Missouri State Archives. Morrow has published extensively on Ozarks and Missouri history and is a recognized expert in that field. As part of a volunteer-led effort to collect resources on the creation of Lawrence County, Missouri Territory, in 1815, Morrow has gathered extensive indexes and records related to this territorial period. The papers in this collection represent some of his contributions to that effort.
