February 23, 1836 Fall of the Alamo in which Bowie, Crockett and others were killed. Bowie born May 1, 1800.

James Bowie of Washington, Ark., for whom Bowie knife was named.

Arkansans including Porter and Yell killed at Battle of Buena Vista, Feb. 23, 1847.
