February 7, 1840 Samuel W. Fordyce born in Ohio, settled in 1876 near Hot Springs, built, financed or assisted in financing 24,000 miles of railway, member of Democratic Natl. Committee 1884 to 1888, friend of Grant, Hayes, Cleveland, Harrison and McKinley.
Meeting of First General Assembly elected by people, February 7, 1820.
