The Arkansas State Archives research guides offer a general overview of the holdings of the Arkansas State Archives on various topics. These guides are not meant to be comprehensive, but to provide starting points for research.

Finding aids

Thousands of manuscript collections housed at the Arkansas State Archives focus on the private and business papers of individuals as well as records of religious, educational, patriotic, social, and civic organizations. In addition, the Archives preserves state and federal government records, such as land records, election returns, legislative records, and papers of numerous Arkansas governors. Collectively, these materials create the world’s largest and most significant collection of Arkansas documents and historical material. Many collections have been described and inventoried for ease of access as finding aids.
