This collection contains a census taken in Miller County sheriff in 1829.

Biographical/Historical Note

This census was taken by John H. Fowler, Sheriff of Miller County. It includes the names of individuals counted by township, as well as the number of free people and slaves within a household. Formed in 1820, Miller County is located in the southwestern corner of Arkansas. It was dissolved in 1838, due to border disputes with the new Republic of Texas, and then recreated in 1874.
