This collection contains Civil War-era personal papers of Frederick S. Hobbs.

Biographical/Historical Note

Frederick Stark Hobbs was born around 1840 in Virginia. He married Helen Elizabeth Thibault (1840-1934), daughter of Felix J. and Maria Keatts Thibault, on June 30, 1860. They had several children. During the Civil War, he served in the Confederate Army as the Captain of Commissary in General James Tappan's Brigade.
