This collection contains letters written by R.J. Bryson to his mother and sister after he enlisted in avolunteer infantry company during the Civil War. These letters are asking for clothing items and a pony.

Biographical/Historical Note

R.J. Bryson was a private in Company "B" of the 4th Arkansas Mounted Infantry Volunteers, in which heenlisted on December 1, 1863, and served until the company disbanded on June 2, 1864.
