This collection contains letters written by R.J. Bryson to his mother and sister after he enlisted in a volunteer infantry company during the Civil War. These letters are asking for clothing items and a pony.

Biographical/Historical Note

R.J. Bryson was a private in Company "B" of the 4th Arkansas Mounted Infantry Volunteers, in which he enlisted on December 1, 1863, and served until the company disbanded on June 2, 1864.
