Description

This diary describes activities of a Confederate soldier serving in Company B, First Arkansas Mounted Rifles, from the time of its organization at Des Arc in May 1861, until the beginning of August, when the company made it to Wilson’s Creek, Missouri, just before the battle there.

Biographical/Historical Note

A lawyer from Des Arc, Arkansas, Thomas Jefferson Jobe served a private in Company B, First Arkansas Mounted Rifles, enlisting at the time of the unit's organization at Des Arc in May 1861.
