This collection contains correspondence, poems, and business documents pertaining to Clio Harper's career.

Biographical/Historical Note

Clio Harper was born in 1872. He was a member of the police committee of the city council of Little Rock and served as alderman for Little Rock's first ward in 1917. Harper was the publicity manager of the Arkansas State Council of Defense in 1918, and was president, secretary, editor and treasurer of the Authors' and Composers' Society of Arkansas. He served as executive secretary of the Arkansas Centennial Commission in 1919, as well as corresponding secretary, committee executive member, and Poet Laureate for the Little Rock Press Club.
