This poem was written in dedication to the Confederacy by M.L. Brown for the 1911 affair.
Biographical/Historical Note
The United Confederate Veterans (UCV) reunion was hosted in Little Rock on May 16-18, 1911. An estimated 140,000 people, 12,000 of whom were veterans, are said to have been in Little Rock for the event. The reunion was held in order to bring attention to the aging veteran population. The UCV was active in securing the enforcement of legislation on pension laws for the wounded, disabled, and destitute ex-confederate soldiers.
