This collection contains one copy of the Democrat Official Song Book printed by the Democrat Printing and Litho. Company. The copy in this collection is the 30th edition, from January 1932.
Biographical/Historical Note
This song book was printed by the Democrat Printing and Lithographing Company, a catalog and magazine printing company in Little Rock, Arkansas. The company was founded in 1871 as part of the printing division of the Arkansas Democrat newspaper. It was separated from the newspaper in 1906. The Parke-Harper Printing Company purchased and merged with Democrat Printing in 1938, but the company retained the name of Democrat Printing. The company primarily offers printing services, but also offered office and school equipment and supplies in the 1940s and 1950s. It also formed a subsidiary company that offered typesetting services. The song book contains popular song lyrics and advertisements for the Democrat Printing Company.
