This collection contains one broadside, a petition by Prairie County residents to move the county seat from Des Arc to Hazen or DeValls Bluff.

Biographical/Historical Note

Prairie County was established in 1846 and is named for the Grand Prairie region of Arkansas. The county was hit heavily by the Civil War and Des Arc was partly destroyed. There are two county seats, Des Arc and DeValls Bluff.
