This collection contains one deed sold to A.R. Schultz for a burial lot at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 6, 1854, and one envelope which most likely held the deed.
Biographical/Historical Note
Mount Holly Cemetery is located in Little Rock (Pulaski Co.), Arkansas. It is often called the Westminster Abbey of Arkansas because of the number of prominent individuals buried there, including 11 Arkansas governors, 13 Supreme Court Justices, four U.S. senators, four Confederate generals, and 21 Little Rock mayors. It was established on February 23, 1843. It was one of the first cemeteries to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. This collection contains a deed for a burial lot at Mount Holly that was paid by an individual named A.R. Schultz. It believed from census records that he may have lived in Pyeatt, (Pulaski Co.), Arkansas.
