This collection contains one ledger of collections and disbursement payments from The American Legion Leslie Huddleston Post #12 in Hope, Arkansas, from 1922. It also contains a roster of American Legion Members showing payment of dues for 1922 and a 1931 letter from the Department of Arkansas American Legion Adjutant, R.W. Sisson, to an unnamed commander.
Biographical/Historical Note
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization. Arkansas was represented in the American Legion from its beginning in 1919 and was the first state in the United States to incorporate a chapter. The Leslie Huddleston Post #12 is a chapter of the Department of Arkansas American Legion located in Hope, Arkansas.
