This collection contains Special Orders No. 25 appointing members of the Text-book Committee of the Sons of Confederate Veterans for the years 1933 through 1934.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Sons of Confederate Veterans is a nonprofit organization of male blood-descendants of Confederate veterans. It is headquartered in Columbia, Tennessee. The SCV was founded on July 1, 1896, in Richmond, Virginia, by R.E. Lee Camp, No. 1, Confederate Veterans. The proclaimed purpose of the organization is "to encourage the preservation of history, perpetuate the hallowed memories of brave men, to assist in the observance of the Confederate Memorial Day, to aid and support all members, and to perpetuate the record of the services of every Southern soldier."
