This collection contains three land purchase documents dating from 1843 to 1859 and an undated note on the stationary of Arkansas State Land Commissioner, George W. Neal, most likely from the 1930s.
Biographical/Historical Note
This collection contains three documents of records of land purchased in Arkansas dating from 1843 to 1859. The documents include township and range, name of the purchaser, the part of the section of land purchased, number of sections purchased, number of acres, price per acre, and amount and date of purchase. It is believed that these records are for land purchased at Arkansas Post. The collection also contains a note that is written on the stationary of George W. Neal, who was the Assistant Secretary of State of Arkansas and also served two terms as Arkansas State Land Commissioner from 1933 to 1937. It is believed that these records originally belonged to the state land office.
