Biographical/Historical Note

The Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission was established in 1949 as part of the Arkansas Water Pollution Control Act 472 of 1949. Over the years, it has gone through several changes, including a reorganization in 1991. The Commission consists of 13 members, six from specific State Agencies, and seven appointed by the Governor. They serve as the environmental policy-making body for the state of Arkansas.
