This collection contains one 8x10 black and white copy photograph of the Wiley family, one page of biographical information on them, and a photocopy of the 1930 federal population census listing the Wiley family.

Biographical/Historical Note

Edward Wiley Sr. and Margaret Wiley were the parents of a prominent black family of Clark County, Arkansas. The estimated birth years for Edward and Margaret are 1872 and 1877, respectively. Though the exact date is unknown, Edward and Margaret were married sometime before 1900 and the couple had thirteen children over the course of their marriage. The Wileys owned 80 acres of land in Burtsell, Arkansas, used as a timber ranch. Edward Wiley Sr., died July 4, 1954. Margaret Wiley died December 10, 1967. Both are buried in the Methodist Rome Cemetery, located in Oklolona, Clark County, Arkansas.
