This collection contains a Xerox copy of a journal kept by Ezekiel Brooke Owens from June 1850 to February 1851 during his journey from Springfield, Missouri to California during the California Gold Rush.

Biographical/Historical Note

The California Gold Rush of 1849 drew people from all over the world to make journeys to seek their fortune. A Missouri man named Ezekiel Brooke Owens took just such a journey in 1850 and kept a journal.
