This collection contains a photocopy of a muster roll for the 28th Arkansas Mounted Infantry, Company A. It also contains a brief history of the unit.

Biographical/Historical Note

The 28th Arkansas Mounted Infantry, Company A, was organized on September 14, 1863, under Captain S.J. McGriffin. It was originally organized as the "Popcorn Company" because of the young age of the members. It was reorganized in the summer of 1864 as Company A, 28th Arkansas Mounted Infantry under Colonel Crabtree.
