This collection contains a photocopy of an invitation from Annie M. to Omer R. Weaver to join her and others for eggnog.
Biographical/Historical Note
Omer R. Weaver was born in 1837 in Kentucky and moved with his family at the age of one to Arkansas where his father Samuel Weaver served as the state's Secretary of State. Omer graduated from the University of Nashville in 1857. In 1860 Omer worked as his father's secretary until he joined the Pulaski Light Artillery in which he established the rank of Lieutenant. On August 10, 1861 at the age of 24 Omer was mortally wounded by a single shot to the chest at the Battle of Wilson's Creek, becoming the first Arkansan to die in the Civil War; he was laid to rest beside his father at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.
