This collection contains a typescript copy of the 1857 diary of Rebecca Tackett McAllister, the wife of the Rev. Jesse McAllister of Tulip Ridge, Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
Rebecca Tackett was born in Virginia around 1838. She married the Reverend Jesse McAllister, a Methodist minister and professor at the Tulip Female College at Tulip Ridge in Dallas County, Arkansas. Rebecca Tackett McAllister kept a diary while living in Tulip Ridge referencing her daily life as well as prominent citizens of the community.
