This collection contains an obituary from the Arkansas Gazette dated July 24, 1967 for Zachary T. Bragg, the first mayor of West Memphis, Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
Zachary Taylor Bragg (1888-1967) was born in Utica, Mississippi October 16, 1888 to Zach T. Bragg and Eliza A. Mimms Bragg. Zachary moved to West Memphis around 1904. He eventually started a lumbermill there because the West Memphis area was known for its high quality lumber. West Memphis was incorporated in 1927. Bragg became the first mayor of West Memphis in 1928 but resigned a year later. He died July 23, 1967 in Ash Flat, Arkansas.
