This collection contains two CDs containing photographs, poems, programs, a prayer book for soldiers and sailors, honorable discharge papers, and religious leaflets.

Biographical/Historical Note

This is a digital collection of letters and documents pertaining to the life of black soldier named Lewis J. Jackson who was stationed in the Philippines and the Netherlands, East Indies, Louisiana and California from 1940 to 1944. These letters were mailed to his wife, Grace Nannette White Jackson, who lived and taught school in Crossett, Arkansas.
