This collection contains a daily bulletin of weather conditions, including barometer, thermometer, and wind, for various locations around the state for February 27, 1883. It was reported by the U.S. War Department Signal Service and also includes conditions in Little Rock.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Signal Service of the Army of the United States was responsible for noting the development and progress of storms and other meteorological phenomena and reporting the same to the public with predictions of probable future atmospheric conditions. The meteorological division of the United States Signal Service was established in 1870. This eventually evolved into a national weather service.
