Biographical/Historical Note
The Gus Blass Company was established in 1871 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and specialized in clothing and dry goods. Gus Blass was born in Germany on February 15, 1849. He moved to America as a young man and settled in Arkansas about 1870, shortly before he and his brother, Louis Blass, established the Blass retail company. Gus Blass and his family were active members in the Jewish community of Little Rock. Gus Blass died on January 15, 1919.
