This collection contains the Craighead County, Arkansas Confederate Soldiers Indigent list from 1864.

Biographical/Historical Note

On December 1, 1862, Arkansas's Confederate legislature approved an "Act to Provide for the Needy and Destitute Families of Soldiers in the State." The act appropriated funds for the relief of the families of "indigent" Confederate soldiers.
