This collection contains George W. Dennison's Certificate of Appointment as Register of the Land Office at Little Rock.
Biographical/Historical Note
George Wilson Dennison (1840-1916) was born August 10, 1840 in Sacket's Harbor, New York. George Wilson Dennison was appointed registrar of the United States Land Office in Arkansas where he lived until 1876. After eleven years in Atlanta, Georgia and Kentucky, Dennison moved back to Little Rock where he was active in the business community until his retirement in 1904. Dennison married Olivia Cochran Vandegrift September 26, 1871 and they had three daughters: Lina, Hetty, and Maggie. George W. Dennison died in Little Rock, Arkansas March 7, 1916. Dennison street in Little Rock is named after him.
