One letter outlining procedures for land sales relating to Henning Godfrey case before Judge Wood in Bradley Circuit Court.

Biographical/Historical Note

Zackary Taylor Wood, a son of John S. and Martha (Bussey) Wood, was born in Drew county, Arkansas, September 16, 1849. Admitted to the bar in 1880, he practiced law in Monticello, Arkansas until 1898. Wood was elected Judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit in 1898, and as Chancellor of the Second Chancery Circuit in 1906. He married Tommie Stanley in 1874 and fathered five children. Active in community affairs, he served on the Monticello School Board, as president of the Baptist Orphan's home, a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias lodges and as a deacon of First Baptist Church, Monticello. Henley Sims Turner was born on November 6, 1873 in Bradley County, Arkansas to A.R. and Susan A. Turner. He married Carrie Brooks in Warren, Arkansas on July 25, 1900. His occupation in 1920, according to the Federal Census, was as a deputy clerk.
