Description

Letter and baseball contract from R.G. Allen with the Little Rock Baseball Association to J.H. "Rube" Roberson. The contract is from the Southern League under the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues.

Biographical/Historical Note

Born August 16, 1889, in Floyd, White County, Arkansas, John Henry Roberson was known to baseball fans as "Rube Robinson," a label given to him by the press. Roberson played professional baseball from 1908 until 1929 and was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1962.
