The Ozark Mountains region is rich in traditional lifeways, folk culture and history; it is sometimes referred to as the “folk music capital of the world.” The Arkansas State Archives preserves many materials illustrating the life and culture of the Ozarks, including an extensive collection of traditional and folk music recorded at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Arkansas.

The following selections, including sheet music cover art, photographs and audio recordings, are a small sampling from our Ozarks-related holdings.
