Gov.
I herewith enclose to you a [illegible]
Order from Col Trader in regard to
Mr. Peter E. Greene of this place.
Some days ago the Col forwarded
a similar Order and the same time
there came to Lieut Ross, who had
sent up the report on the case a copy
of a letter from you in which it was
stated that the case of Greene be
referred to the Confederate authorities
& this was dated the same time
as the Order to me[.] I supposed the
opinion from you was received
after writing the Order to me[.] from
the letter enclosed I see the Col
still insist[sic] on my arresting Greene[.]
What am I to do Gov.?
Please to write to me immediately
by return courier[.] I will wait
action
Yours Very Respectfully

From what Mr. Tellmon(?) says
I presume the authority from these
Head Qrs have not come to hand in
which I send a copy of the paragraph
stating [illegible]
From reports forwarded to me I judge
it best that Peter E Greene of
Arkadelphia be arrested & sent
to Maj Peay Comdg Post at Washington
Cause it to be done immediately and
foward with him a statement of his
acts & refusing to take Confederate
money, and declaring himself
a Union man
