Letter from Captain J.C. Whitney to the Adjutant General of Arkansas requesting a list of locations for several Missouri regiments in order to determine where to send stragglers and deserters.

Saint Louis Mo Jan 23 1865
Sir
I have the honor to request that
you will furnish this office with the
List and present locations of the several
Regts and Batteries or parts of Regts from your
State now in the Service of the U S
The information is necessary that I may
know where to send the Stragglers and
Deserters from regiments of your State
almost daily arriving at these Barracks
to be forwarded to their command
