This scrapbook illustrates the early work of electrical companies in some southern states and areas of Canada. These electric companies include Consumers Electric Company in New Orleans, founded in 1907; City Electric Light and Water Works in Alexandria, Louisiana, founded in 1909; Houston Lighting and Power Company in Texas, founded in 1905; and Little Rock Street Railway and Electric Company. Little Rock Street Railway and Electric Company was formed from a merger of two companies: the Little Rock Traction and Electric Company and the Little Rock Edison Electric Light and Power Company. The president of these merged companies was D.H. Cantrell.
This scrapbook was created by H. Lewis Dunn, who was born in Waco, Texas, but later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas.
