This collection contains two rental agreements between the Brown Shoe Company and the city of Walnut Ridge.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Brown Shoe Company was headquartered in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and manufactured shoes from 1945 to 1965. At the time, Walnut Ridge was a booming town due to the railroad line and surrounding agriculture. In an effort to bring more jobs into the area, the city of Walnut Ridge contracted with the Brown Shoe Company to provide facilities in exchange for the plant operating in town.
