This collections contains reports prepared by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, Arkansas Department of Corrections, and the Arkansas Sentencing Commissions, which include recommendations to the Arkansas Legislative Council.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Legislative Council was established by Act 264 of 1949 to collection data and information upon which legislative decisions will be made during regular session of the General Assembly. The Bureau of Legislative Research is a service agency of the Legislative Council. The Legislative Council is the supervisory Committee of the Bureau of Legislative Research, and the council coordinates the activities of the various interim committees and through the various committees provides legislative oversight of the executive branch of government. The council consists of thirty-six regular members - twenty House members and 16 Senators. There are also twenty-four ex-officio voting members and five ex-officio nonvoting members.
