Description
This collection includes correspondence, currency, legal documents, receipts, memorabilia, and a wallet. Materials consist of those belonging to Dr. Isaac Folsom, his wife Sallie F. Folsom, her second husband John A. Gallagher, Dr. Folsom's mother Lucia Folsom, Mr. Frank Baum and Mrs. T.J. Baum. The majority of materials relate to Dr. Isaac Folsom and his wife Sallie on the purchase of land in Lonoke County.
Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Isaac Folsom was born in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas, in 1827, to Isaac and Lucia Folsom,, Sr. Dr. Folsom received his medical degree from Rector School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1866. He established his first practice in Searcy, White County, Arkansas. Then, he had the opportunity to purchase Dr. [Emmor's] drug store and brick residence in Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas. After this, he spent the next twenty years or so in support of the University of Arkansas Medical Clinic in Little Rock, Arkansas, until his death on September 5, 1892.
