Biographical/Historical Note

Southern Arkansas University Tech is a public community college in Camden, Arkansas. It is a two-year college offering technical training and university transfer degrees. It was created by Act 534 of the Arkansas Legislature on April 5, 1967, as Southwest Technical Institute. It became Southern Arkansas University Tech in 1975 when the operation of the institution was transferred from the state to the board of trustees of Southern Arkansas University.
