This collection contains the Anti-Horse Thief Association, Arkansas Division proceedings from 1907, 1910, 1913, and 1929. These documents contain the official proceedings of these annual meetings.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Anti-Horse Thief Association (AHTA) was founded in 1854 by David McKee in Clark County, Missouri. The association was a vigilante committee that organized in order to protect personal property, namely horses, from thieves. This organization produced several chapters in neighboring states, including Arkansas. The members were encouraged to bring criminals to the appropriate authorities and assist the officers in discharging their duties.
