This collection contains two hand-written manuscripts and one typescript copy of the first manuscript.

Biographical/Historical Note

This collection contains "History of Lady Baxter," which is a manuscript written by Jess McCorkle, and tells the story of the cannon at the Old State House. The collection also contains "A Run from the Feds, a manuscript that describes the flight of two women from federal forces near Fort Smith in September of 1863. The author of the second manuscript is not written on the piece; however it appears to also have been written by Jess McCorkle.
