Biographical/Historical Note
The United States Daughters of 1812 was founded in 1892 as a women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving documents and relics pertaining to the history of the American people, marking historical sites, recording family histories and traditions, celebrating patriotic anniversaries, learning about life between the end of the American Revolution and the end of the War of 1812, and maintaining a museum and library of memorabilia of the 1784-1815 period at National Headquarters in Washington, District of Columbia. Arkansas's first chapter was organized in Little Rock in 1908.
