Biographical/Historical Note

Watson Chapel is a neighborhood in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas. It is named after a Cumberland Presbyterian minister Benjamin Watson, who settled in Sulphur Springs in the 1870s. The letter in this collection concerns the disputed location of a Methodist Church in what would later become Watson Chapel.
