This collection consists of letters written by and to William Lovely from 1814 to 1817.

Biographical/Historical Note

Major William Lewis Lovely was an assistant agent to the Cherokee in Tennessee and was named Indian agent to the Arkansas Cherokee in 1813. He moved to Arkansas with his wife Persis, and they settled in an abandoned Osage village. Lovely died in 1817.
