This collection contains a report written by the Works Progress Administration office in Little Rock, Arkansas regarding complaints by sharecroppers in eastern Arkansas in 1936.
Biographical/Historical Note
In 1936 the Works Progress Administration in Little Rock wrote a report regarding complaints by sharecroppers in Cross County, Arkansas. In December 1935 Mr. C.H. Dibble, a Cross County, Arkansas farmer, forcibly evicted sixteen sharecroppers from his farm. Dibble took this action after receiving a certified letter from a Memphis attorney in which he learned these sharecroppers had joined the Southern Tenant Farmers Union.
