This collection contains correspondence, printed materials, and an address for the Arkansas Host and Historical Society for 1939.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Arkansas Host and Historical Society formed in January 1939 after a group of civic minded Arkansas citizens met to discuss tourism in Arkansas. At this time Arkansas ranked 2nd in tourism among southern states, but did not rank as high in tourism dollars. The Arkansas Host and Historical Society hoped to facilitate cooperative action among local communities and counties in Arkansas to increase tourists and tourism dollars for the state.
