This collection contains a commission for Augustus Joseph Ward, Crawford County, Arkansas treasurer.
Biographical/Historical Note
Augustus Joseph Ward (1814-1883), was born May 12, 1814 in Connecticut. Ward lived in Indian Territory prior to moving to Arkansas where he settled in Crawford County. Ward served as Treasurer of Crawford County for 24 years. Ward married Eleanor G. Howell of Johnson County, Arkansas. Ward died January 24, 1883 in Van Buren, Arkansas.
