Biographical/Historical Note
Thomas D. Ragsdale was born November 8, 1804, in Tennessee to William and Fanny May Hamlett Ragsdale. By 1835, Thomas and his wife, Mary Ann Kilgore, had moved to Conway County, Arkansas. Thomas was a merchant and farmer. A son, Lewis T. (born December 31, 1840), served in Company K,10th Arkansas Infantry, as a First Lieutenant during the Civil War. Lewis became a physician and moved to Pope County. He married Isabel Alline Boggess on November 15, 1866.
