Biographical/Historical Note
The Walnut Ridge Country Club was located near the airport in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence County, on land that was once a part of a military base during World War II. It existed from the early 1970s until March 2017, when it formally disbanded. Shortly after it closed its doors, the club’s building sustained a serious damage during a storm, which blew in most of the roof. The clubhouse, tennis court, swimming pool, cart sheds, and a nine-hole golf course are all gone now. The Ladies Auxiliary saved the scrapbooks and donated them to NEARA to preserve a part of the club’s history.
