Description
These records are an incomplete collection of the births recorded in Lawrence County between 1919 and 1923. The records include information such as the gender of the child, parents names, whether a live or still birth, doctor or midwife delivering the child, and the race of the child. Not all information is completed on the certificates. No other supporting documentation is included in the collection.
Biographical/Historical Note
These records are part of a larger collection formerly housed at Powhatan Courthouse and donated by the Lawrence County Historical Society in 2010. Arkansas began recording births in 1914. This collection consists of county copies of birth records recorded between 1921 and 1923.
