November 20, 1689 de Tonti deeded land for Catholic mission at Arkansas Post.

Henri de Tonti, companion of La Salle in his explorations of 1682.

De Tonti remained with 40 men on Arkansas River while La Salle went down the Mississippi.

Nov. 20, 1819 first issue of the Ark. Gazette.

First home of the Arkansas Gazette at Arkansas Post.
